How to Correct Information on your NID online (Bangladesh)

Errors on National ID (NID) cards are common, particularly regarding English name spelling, date of birth, or parental designations. These corrections can be requested online through the official NID Services portal.
Step 1: Register on the NID Portal
If you haven't already, register your account at services.nidw.gov.bd using your NID number, date of birth, and permanent address district. Verify your login via the NID Wallet mobile app (requires face scan verification).
Step 2: Pay the Correction Fees
Before submitting edits on the portal, pay the correction fee via mobile banking (bKash/Nagad/Rocket).
- Info Correction (First Time): BDT 230
- Info Correction (Second Time): BDT 345
- Info Correction (Third Time+): BDT 575
- Other Info Correction (e.g. address/religion): BDT 115
After making the payment, the portal will show your paid balance.
Step 3: Enter Corrections on the Portal
- Go to the Profile section on the portal.
- Click on the Edit button.
- Edit the fields that require correction (e.g., change spelling of name or date of birth).
- Review the "before" and "after" fields to ensure accuracy.
Step 4: Upload Supporting Documents
You must upload scanned PDF or image copies of official documents to prove the corrections:
- For Name/Date of Birth: Upload your SSC certificate and verified Birth Certificate.
- For Address: Upload utility bills or land registry papers.
- For Marital Changes: Upload Nikahnama or divorce certificates.
Step 5: Submit and Track
Submit the application online. Your request will be assigned to a desk officer for verification. You can track progress on the portal. Once approved, you will receive an SMS. You can download your revised e-NID instantly, which is legally valid.
