নতুন এনআইডির জন্য আবেদন

The National Identity (NID) card is a mandatory document for citizens in Bangladesh, required for banking, licensing, tax filing, and land transactions. The registration process begins online and completes with biometric capture at your local Election Commission office.

Step 1: Check Eligibility and Documents

Ensure you have an online-verified Birth Registration Certificate (BRC) (English copy searchable in the online birth registry database) and your academic certificates. Gather your parents' NID copies.

Step 2: Register on the NID Services Portal

1. Navigate to services.nidw.gov.bd.
2. Click on Register / Apply for New NID.
3. Create a username and password, verified by your mobile number.

Step 3: Complete the NID Form

Fill out the electronic form with correct details:

• Personal Information: Full name in Bangla, full name in English, date of birth, place of birth.
• Parental Info: Father's and mother's names and NID numbers.
• Marital Status: Spouse's name and NID if married.
• Address Details: Present and permanent addresses.

Save the completed form and download the PDF.

Step 4: Submit Application and Schedule Biometrics

Submit the form online. The portal will assign you to the nearest Upazila/Thana Election Commission office based on your address. You will receive an SMS instructions on when to visit the office for biometric enrollment.

Step 5: Biometrics at Election Office

Report to your local Upazila/Thana Election Commission office with the printed application PDF and all original supporting documents (Birth Certificate, SSC certificate, utility bill).

1. The officer will verify your physical documents.
2. Complete your fingerprint scans, iris scans, and digital photograph.
3. Keep the receipt slip handed to you; it contains your form number.

Step 6: Download e-NID / Collect Smart Card

1. After 3-4 weeks, check your application status online.
2. Once approved, you can download your temporary e-NID copy (laminated NID copy) from the portal. It carries a barcode and is legally valid for all transactions.
3. You will receive an SMS notification when the physical plastic Smart NID card is ready for collection at your local Ward Councilor/Union Parishad office.
