How to Renew a Passport in Bangladesh (2026 Step-by-Step Guide)

Renewing a passport in Bangladesh is technically a "re-issue" of your passport. Since Bangladesh transitioned from Machine Readable Passports (MRP) to e-Passports, all renewals are now issued as biometric e-Passports.

Step 1: Check Your Document Details

Your renewal application data must match your previous passport and your National ID (NID) card. If there is a spelling mismatch between your old passport and your NID, the NID details will take precedence.

Step 2: Complete the Online Application

Log in to your account on epassport.gov.bd.
Choose Apply for Re-issue/Renewal.
Fill out the application fields. When prompted, select Yes, I have a previous passport and enter your old passport number, expiry date, and type (MRP or e-Passport).
Fill in any changes to addresses or professions.

Step 3: Pay the Renewal Fees

Fees are identical to new application fees. You can pay online using A-Challan through bKash, Nagad, or credit cards, or offline at Sonali Bank and other authorized outlets.

Regular Delivery (21 Days): BDT 4,025 (48 Pages, 5-Year) | BDT 5,750 (48 Pages, 10-Year)
Express Delivery (10 Days): BDT 6,325 (48 Pages, 5-Year) | BDT 8,050 (48 Pages, 10-Year)

Step 4: Submit Biometrics at RPO

Set an enrollment appointment date.
Bring your old original passport, NID/BRC copy, printed form, and payment slip to the Regional Passport Office.
Submit the physical application. The officer will verify your old passport against the new form.
Complete your photo capture and biometric scans.

Step 5: Collect Your New Passport

You can track the status on the portal. When it reaches "Passport Printed" and you receive an SMS, visit the office with your old passport and the delivery slip. The officer will invalidate (punch) your old passport and deliver your brand new e-Passport.
