Errors on Birth Registration Certificates (BRC) are common in Bangladesh. The Local Government Division operates an online portal called BDRIS, where citizens can register corrections before visiting their local ward or union parishad office.

Step 1: Search Your Birth Record Online

Before applying, verify your birth registration number in the online system.

1. Visit bdris.gov.bd and go to Birth Registration Search.
2. Enter your 17-digit registration number and date of birth.
3. If your record does not show up, you must first register your birth details online.

Step 2: Access the Correction Portal

1. Navigate to bdris.gov.bd/application/correction.
2. Enter your 17-digit birth registration number and date of birth.
3. Select your registration office (District, Upazila/Thana, Union Parishad/Ward office).

Step 3: Enter Corrections

1. Select the specific fields you need to edit (e.g. Applicant Name English, Father's Name, Mother's Name, Date of Birth).
2. Enter the corrected values.
3. Enter the reason for correction (e.g. clerical error, matching NID).

Step 4: Upload Scan Documents

Upload scans of the certificates proving the corrections (SSC certificate, parent NID copies, utility bill). Files should be under 100KB in size.

Step 5: Submit Form and Pay Fees

1. Confirm your mobile number and submit the online application.
2. Note down your Application Number.
3. Print the completed application form.
4. Visit your local Union Parishad or Ward Councilor office with the printed form, original supporting certificates, and pay the official fee (BDT 50/100) directly to their cashier.

The secretary will verify your application against the uploaded records. Once approved, you can print your corrected Birth Certificate from the portal or collect the official sealed copy from the local office.
